Veilleuses, Blue Mango & Mélys
Shacklewell Arms, E8 2EB , [Venue Details]Veilleuses is a form of DIY transcendental rock: grooves dripping from drumheads and human skin, French songs with enigmatic lyrics, and traditional instruments repurposed amidst feedback and sunflowers.
Emerging from the shadows, the music of Veilleuses invites everyone to contemplation. It is a drama-delic ritual where we exalt our deepest feelings, the bizarre, the sacred nature of relationships, and the mysticism of the mundane. Ultimately, everything revolves around that small light—that *veilleuse*—around which we gather to share stories of metamorphosis, love, and moments of illumination.
Blue Mango was born in Hong Kong in 2013. Bonding over their common love for songwriting they started writing songs in parks and little flats around the city. They both migrated back to Europe in 2016. One in Paris the other in London meeting in the two cities to make music.
Mélys :
Melodies of mirages; music of bodies and shipwrecks.
After her first EP ‘Agua’ which was more organic and acoustic, Mélys For Once's second EP, is tinged with indie-folk tones, sometimes even leaning towards rock. Navigating between English and Spanish, her soft, husky voice takes us to those precious moments when the mind wanders and is carried away by melancholy.
